Ingredients for chocolate brownies

Key steps for easy one bowl fudgy brownies

  1. Use a good quality butter, real butter! I like to use my all time favorite Kerrygold. A good quality butter with lots of flavor will make a big difference to your brownies.
  2. Use softened or even better Melted butter, this will give you a more rich and chewier brownie.
  3. A good quality cocoa powder. Also if you are using chocolate chips then quality is key for ingredients as these ingredients make a huge difference to the overall taste. So something like Ghirardelli or Hershey’s cocoa would be good choices to use.
  4. Don’t over mix the batter, just enough mixing to get all the ingredients together, the more dense the batter, the more moist your brownies will be.
  5. When pouring the brownie mixture into the baking pan then make sure to spread the batter out evenly, this will ensure even baking.
  6. . Use the right size baking tin, this recipe uses a 9×9 traybake tin. Using the right size baking tin will give you the perfect brownie texture.
  7. Don’t over bake your brownies, in this recipe I bake my brownies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes and test with a skewer. You want to have some moist crumbs sticking to the skewer and that’s when you know it’s done.
  8. Let your brownies cool down for at least 20-25 minutes. Taking them out of the pan too quickly and cutting them up while still hot will end up with a big mess. The brownies are still very soft and and need to completely cool down so they can hold their shape after cutting.
