About

Hello everyone welcome to my blog Cooking Canary. My name is Shema. I am a stay at home mom with two adorable kiddos and a very hard working hubby. As a family we absolutely love food and travelling. Both of these put together make us super happy and content. I’m a British born Bangladeshi living in the United States for over a decade now and I have learned to cook through trial and error. Thanks to my sweet tooth growing up I have always had a flair in making desserts and quick easy snacks (I’ll be sharing those recipes too) but I didn’t really have much of a clue or care about cooking up a meal until I got married. Now I think I’m finally there (with stamp approved by hubby) and ready to share some of my very close to heart recipes.

My inspiration for cooking definitely comes from my parents, my father a retired Indian chef and mother who is a master-chef in her own kitchen whose food I crave for even in my sleep. Both my parents have helped me in my cooking journey (endless phone calls asking them for step by step recipes). I want to be able to give you all the tips and tricks to easy cooking so you can also enjoy good food with your family. Cooking can seem complicated sometimes especially when it’s all new to you, but Really it’s not as hard as you think it is. It can be made pretty simple and following foolproof recipes really work. You just have to learn to love what you cook. Here in my blog I will show you recipes from Indian/Bangladeshi Cuisines as well as Cuisines from other parts of the world which I also love to eat and cook…

So for all you stay at home moms and dads or newbie cooks stay tuned for my exciting recipes to help you along your cooking journey.

From my kitchen to yours,

Shema

Hi Shema, I have just discovered you and your wonderful array of recipes and I’m super excited to try the Bangladeshi recipes initially. This is because my husband and I love nothing more than exploring the wide choice of flavours, textures, aromas etc. I also love to send photos of my meals to a huge friend of ours who’s restaurant we visit every week. PS, one of the simplest things is the potato chipsticks! Just cutting them in a different way will make a lovely change. Can’t wait to get cooking👏🏻
