Ingredients you need to make easy Indian flavored chicken spring rolls

Onions, thinly sliced and cooked in oil until golden brown. These onions add to the flavor of the filling and keep the filling nice and moist.

Ginger and garlic paste goes perfect with chicken and gives the chicken that warm and spicy flavor.

Salt for seasoning.

Indian spices which include turmeric, chili, coriander, cumin and garam masala. A mix of these spices to flavor the overall dish and make the filling that much tastier. These spices are cooked for a few minutes with the onions until some of the oil comes to the surface.

Spices cooked with onions

Chicken breast the main ingredient for the filling. Chicken breast cooks quickly and makes it the perfect filling for this recipe. Cut into small half inch pieces. The chicken breast pieces are added into the spices.

One extra optional ingredient I like to use is tomato ketchup. Yes ketchup, I think this just adds more to the flavor with that sweet and tangy taste. I guess It’s like the flavor punch.

Once everything is cooked and there is no water/liquid left in the pan then fresh chopped green chilies (optional) and cilantro are added for the extra taste and color.

To make the chicken spring rolls

The spring roll pastry can be found in most Indian/Asian supermarkets in the freezer section. The pastry needs to be thawed before it can be used. The best way to do so this is by leaving it on the counter for 30 minutes and this should help to soften the pastry and be ready to use.

Spring roll pastry in packet

Take the pastry out of the packet and for ease I like to take off the sheets as they are pretty much stuck together but very easily come off just by gently pulling them off. Once you have all your sheets nice and loose then dampen a tea towel or even paper towel with water making sure it’s just damp and not soaking wet (wring the water out well). Then put the sheets into the folded towel, this stops the sheets from drying up. If the sheets dry up then it will become difficult to make the rolls.

Making the glue paste

A paste needs to be made using a combination of flour and water. This paste helps to stick the roll together. To make the paste add some all purpose flour into a small bowl with some water, stir until smooth and glue like consistency.
